SENSITIVE SKIN SORROWS

If your like me and suffer with extremely sensitive skin, you know how exhausting and frustrating it can get just trying to find the right face wash or moisturizer to use daily. I started to suffer from eczema as well as acne not while I was a teen but, when I entered my mid 20's...."go figure". Having sensitive skin can also be a very expensive problem because most of the times you have to use a trial and error method to really figure out what does and does not work for you. Everyone's skin is different, so even the most popular products that are dermatologist tested and recommended may not be successful with your skin. I've experienced so much on my journey to healthy flawless skin and I'm still learning and hoping to achieve that but, I wanted to share some sensitive skin No No's and Tips that I've learned so far and hopefully it will help you!

Sensitive Skin No No's
- Stay away from moisturizers or soaps that have parabens, dyes, fragrances, and alcohol
- Stay away from any products that will clog your pores like petroleum based moisturizers
- If you have acne scarring use a sensitive skin sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun
- Avoid squeezing or popping pimples resulting in scarring on the face
- Make sure that any make-up (foundation/blush) used on your face is non-comedic, mineral make up is a good choice
- Stay away from over the counter creams or gels that contain Hydroquione or steroid based bleaching ingredients
- Detergents that you use on pillow cases and sheets can also affect your skin while sleeping so use fragrance free laundry detergents

Sensitive Skin Tips
- Drink Lots of water
- Eat healthy - Lots of green vegetables
- Reduce your sugar intake
- When moisturizing your skin apply moisturizer and massage it into your skin in a circular motion to create blood flow in your face and allows your skin to stay revived looking
- Exfoliate your skin regularly to unclog your pores
- It may cost a bit but invest in a sensitive skin cleanser and moisturizer to use daily - I use DermaGlow Rx which is a bit costly at retail $45.00 per bottle but, it lasts for months
- Make sure that your make up brushes and sponges are cleaned thoroughly everyday and dried in a clean dry spot to avoid bacteria from forming
- Make sure all your make up is washed of every night before you got to bed; you'd be surprised to see how many people sleep with it on- yikes!

                         TIP OF THE DAY

                                  STEAMING YOUR FACE

This is a great way to revitalize your skin and it benefits every skin type. This can be done at a spa or more easily and affordable at home, with a portable steamer or by simply using boiled water. It is very important that you do it safely and not over do it. Steaming your face should be done in moderation. I would suggest no more then twice a month.

1. Boil water and put in a bowl  (you don't need to fill the bowl, just enough to give you enough steam)
2. Wash your face and pat dry
3. Wait for at least 30 sec and then Place your face over the bowl
4. To trap the steam put a towel over your head
(You will know feel your pores actually opening as the steam penetrates your skin)
5. Pat dry your face with a towel
6. Apply moisturizer to your face right away to ensure that the moisturizer can get into your open pores and penetrate your skin and you'll have glowing refreshed skin!

Important:
- Steaming should never be done for more then 8 minutes and its important to make sure that you don't put your face to close to the water or splash the water in your face cause that can cause burning.
- Steaming can effect people differently so try to be aware of your skin reaction, try it for a shorter time if it's the first time that you are steaming your face just to ensure that your skin can handle it.
