"Love....So Many People use your Name in Vain"

Chapter 1 – Is this Love? The Interpretation of Love
By Tricia White

Some would describe love as, feeling like your floating on air, everything and everyone suddenly become so beautiful. The little things that used to bother and irritate you don’t seem to be so irritating anymore. What is this feeling of total utopia? You literally feel like life has some real meaning, at last. It all started when that special person entered your life. He approached you when you weren’t even expecting it. You were swept off your feet and your emotional connection has brought two hearts together. This is how most woman feel when they fall in “love”. Whether they call it love at first sight or it has been ten years in the making, people tend to identify their feelings as love.

When you think about love, some say it’s the best thing that has ever happened to them and some curse the day it entered their lives. Whatever, your experience has been with love; some would say that life would not be the same without it. The bible describes love as…

Love suffers long and is kind; Love does not envy; Love does not
parade itself, Love is not puffed up; does not behave
rudely, does not seek it’s own, it is not provoked, thinks no evil.
Does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things;
Endures all things. 1 Corin. 13:4-7

The bible interprets love as the most important human emotion . If many were to look into their situations they would really have a hard time identifying these values in their relationships. Love is the emotion that is misinterpreted more then any other human emotion. There are so many different definitions of “Love”. Many would consider it to be the most valuable and sought after feeling that one can acquire in their lives. Love can also be looked at in degrees of intensity. There is bloodline love, which is felt within a family. There is friendship love, which is attained through maintaining meaningful relationships with people and there is the most intense love that connects two people on a mental, physical and spiritual level; which is the love attained from an intimate relationship. Intimate does not necessarily mean physical, but it means the joining of two people together to become one. From a very young age, many girls dream about that miraculous day when they meet their knight in shining armor, the man that will be their everything. They dream about falling hopelessly in love and they hope to marry, have babies and then grow old together. This is typically how woman would like it to work, a fairytale. But, let’s just say, there are some who are blessed and have it that easy and there are some who aren’t as lucky and it becomes a mission that needs to be accomplished in their lives.

Love is a concept that of course has been around from the beginning of time. It exists within our families and with our closest friendships but, it has the most presence in our intimate relationships. We as human beings have been built to gravitate to someone of the opposite sex to look for companionship. God created us to find that partner to live our adult lives with; which along with a lot of other benefits, is to pro-create. The perception of love definitely can be distorted and it usually is; by people simply wanting to believe that certain behaviors are identifiers of love. This has caused a mass misconception throughout our nation surrounding the topic of love.
