Young and Natural vs. Plastic Barbies - When did plastic surgery turn into a trend?

In the past, plastic surgery was only used as a procedure which allowed you to keep your youthful looks as you aged or to help remove excess fat if you were over weight but, nowadays it is simply just an everyday thing. In Hollywood, being seen with bandages on your face from some type of plastic surgery procedure, while your shopping in the supermarket is very normal and completely okay. Plastic surgery is being done on girls as young as 16 years old? Why, I couldn't tell you. At the tender age of 16 years old, you haven't even grown into your matured face or body yet. Alongside facial surgeries, breast augmentation would probably top the list of the most common procedures done today. The youngest age recommended by most surgeons for breast implants is 18 years old. I believe that this procedure is so popular because of the overall opinion that society has about beauty. On tv and in magazines, being curvy is admired, but not in all cases because within the top model runway world, being slender and skinny is whats sought after and considered "fierce". So, I guess it really depends on where you want to be. But, for those not trying to pursue modeling or being a public figure.....I guess it becomes a bit confusing. This is why it is so important to be self-aware and know who you are and not just follow what is seen on tv or in magazines. As they say.....beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Excessive extreme surgeries have been publicized and scrutinized by the media and the public. Heidi Montag (seen above) recently had ten surgeries done in one day and she looked perfectly fine prior to the surgeries. Obviously, she had insecurities about her looks and she has an unrealistic aspiration to look like Barbie and unfortunately she is not the only one who feels this way. Beautiful Megan Fox (seen above) has also been accused of doing surgeries and she would be considered absolutely gorgeous by many. But, perfection is what these individuals are seeking. Heidi admitted that after her ten surgeries she still isn't happy, she already plans to do more. So, the point to my story is ladies know yourself and love the way that God has made you. He doesn't make mistakes. Look in the mirror and only aspire to be yourself, because at the end of the day there is only one you on this earth. Embrace your beauty, love yourself and enjoy your life!
